BUCKWILD FOR BULL RIDING IN BIG SKY

January 1, 2018

THE EVENT HAPPENS RAIN OR SHINE. NO IFS, ANDS, BUTS OR BULL(S) ABOUT IT.

Only in its 6th year running, the Big Sky Professional Bull Riding competition is the biggest event in Big Sky.  Bringing together local families and attracting visitors of all ages from around the U.S., the week-long event is filled with impressive bull riding, mutton bustin’ with kids, community barn dancing, concerts, auctions and after parties. Last year, 76 bucking bulls, 40 bull riders, five live bands and 150 sponsors helped make the event a massive success creating both a social and economic impact, community building opportunity, entertainment and an electric energy that kept Big Sky buzzing for weeks.

And it’s happening again this year. The 2018 Big Sky PBR will run July 25- 28, 2018.

The multi-generational, wholesome affair provides an authentic taste of the Wild West right in Big Sky. The unique blend of cowboy culture, frenetic bulls, live entertainment, outdoor recreation, and surrounding natural beauty creates an action packed week that invigorates the sometimes sleepy facade of Big Sky, Montana.

The Big Sky PBR also proudly supports local and regional charities with proceeds from the Calcutta auction during each night of the event, raffle ticket sales and donations. To date, over $300,000 has been raised to support charities including: Rotary Club of Big Sky, Moonlight Community Foundation, Spanish Peaks Community Foundation and Rider Relief Fund.

Kick up some extra dust this year because they’ve added an additional night of bull riding on Thursday, July 26.  Five years running, professional bull riders have voted this the PBR Event of the Year — and you certainly don’t want to miss the 6th. If your kids are looking for their moment of glory, Mutton Bustin’ might be it! Similar to bull riding, children suit up and hop on the back of a sheep while the clock runs with them.  Whoever stays on the longest wins a trophy almost as tall as them.
